What Scooter125 is
Scooter125 is a classified advertising platform. We publish listings placed by dealers and private sellers. We are not a party to any sale. We do not own the bikes, we do not inspect them, we do not hold your money and we do not guarantee that any listing is accurate.
Using the site as a buyer
Everything on a listing comes from the seller. Verify it yourself before you part with money. Meet in a public place during the day, check the VIN on the frame against the papers, and never pay a deposit before you have seen the bike.
Saved bikes
You can save listings to a shortlist without an account. The list is kept in your own browser, on the device you are using, and is not sent to us. It stays on that device until you clear it, or until your browser clears its stored data, and it does not follow you to another device or browser. When you open the saved page, your browser asks us for the listings on its list and we show whatever is still published. A listing that has been removed drops off the list, and a bike that has sold stays on it marked as sold.
Listing rules
If you list a bike you confirm that you are entitled to sell it, that the details and photographs are accurate and your own, and that the price shown is a genuine asking price.
We remove listings that are fraudulent or misleading, priced to mislead, duplicated across multiple entries, for a bike that is not actually for sale, or that contain contact details designed to move buyers off the platform before they have seen the bike.
A listing may carry one video, either a link to a video on YouTube or Vimeo or a file you upload. The video must show the bike in the listing, and by adding it you confirm that you made it or have the right to use it and that it contains nothing that infringes anyone else’s rights. Uploaded files are limited in size and format, and we may remove a video that is not of the bike, is misleading, or breaks these rules. A linked video plays through the platform that hosts it, under that platform’s terms, and we do not copy or store it.
Dealer accounts
Dealers are responsible for the accuracy of the stock feed they supply and for keeping it current. We import in good faith and reconcile against what the feed says. If a feed returns implausibly few listings we stop and ask rather than removing stock. Paid placement terms are set out at the point of purchase.
New dealer accounts start with a free trial of ninety days on whichever package you choose, with no card taken up front. The trial starts on the day your stock goes live on the site, not on the day you sign up. Before it ends we will contact you to confirm the package you want to continue on. Nothing is charged until you have agreed to it. If no package is agreed by the end of the trial, we may take your listings down until one is, and your dealer profile stays on the site as an unclaimed profile. Package prices and what each includes are shown on the dealer packages page and may change with notice to you.
Finance estimates
The estimate shown on a listing is arithmetic based on figures you entered. It is not a quote, not an offer of credit, and not financial advice. We are not a registered credit provider or financial services provider. No licence under the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act applies to us, because we do not render financial services: we publish adverts, and the monthly figures on a listing are illustrative estimates generated from a published rate and term.
Measurement
We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used. As well as page views, we record events when an enquiry is sent, a WhatsApp or phone button is tapped, an alert or account is set up, a valuation is run, or a promotion is bought. Those events carry the listing or form involved and, for a purchase, the amount. They do not carry your name, your message, your email address or your phone number. Your enquiry itself goes to the seller and is stored by us so that it can be delivered and, for dealers, counted in their reporting. How that data is handled is set out in the privacy policy.
Intellectual property
The site, its design and its editorial content belong to us. Listing photographs and descriptions belong to whoever supplied them, who grants us a licence to display them for as long as the listing is on the site.
Limits on our liability
We provide the site as it is. We do not warrant that listings are accurate or that any bike is fit for a purpose. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from a transaction between you and a seller. Nothing here limits any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act that cannot lawfully be limited.
Governing law
South African law applies, and the South African courts have jurisdiction.
